This was one of the most difficult and chaotic scenes I have ever captured but one of the most exhilarating. I am very happy with how this turned out and feel lucky I was able to capture this. All the elements including the monster wave came together all at once and with the constant wiping of my lens due to the rain and the sea spray I still managed to get this image at the right moment without water smudge ruining it. Click the camera rotate symbol in the top right corner to see the portrait version.
In 2003 this German cargo ship became stranded here on the Cornish coast after the Chief Officer fell unconscious at the wheel. Since then the Atlantic ocean has been and still is claiming this shipwreck piece by piece and here I have captured a small but revealing part of that action. |
